The Cypriot start-up software company Malloc, founded by three talented former researchers of the University of Cyprus, with the goal of protecting and safekeeping personal information, as well as the detection of malicious software (spyware), which attempts to steal information from handheld devices.
Thirteen innovative student-staff projects from across Europe have successfully secured funding from the YUFE Diversity and Inclusivity (D&I) Grants initiative. Diversity and inclusivity is key to the YUFE Alliance (Young Universities for the Future of Europe) and a core value for all its members.
Israel’s 2022 Climate Change Conference was held in Jerusalem on February, 23, 2022. The Conference was organised by Haaretz newspaper, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and EcoPeace Middle East. It is regarded as one of the most important annual events in Israel on issues related to climate crisis in the Middle East region. It aims at informing decision makers and the public on the challenges societies are faced with because of the climate crisis. Among the speakers were John Kerry, Special Presidential Envoy of the US on Climate Change, President of Israel Mr Isaac Herzog and the Minister of Environmental protection of Israel Mrs Tamar Zandberg. Prof. Costas N. Papanicolas, President of The Cyprus Institute and Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Change also participated in the conference in one of the panel discussions moderated by Haaretz’s journalist Mr Amir Tibon, which explored the potential impact of the climate crisis in the Middle East. More specifically, the discussion focused on whether the climate crisis could lead to collaboration and peaceful coexistence or exacerbate wars.
The Cyprus Institute (CyI) World Water Day Conference took place at The Cyprus Institute on 22nd March 2022. The event, part of the Mediterranean process for the 9th World Water forum held in Dakar from 21st to 26th March 2022, was attended by approximately 50 participants, representing national administrations, international UN organizations, NGOs, Universities, Research Centers, Mediterranean initiatives relevant to water resources management in the EMME (Eastern Mediterranean and Middle East) region and Mediterranean countries.
The results for Cyprus come from the cooperation of the Nireas International Water Research Center of the University of Cyprus with the Cyprus Addiction Treatment Authority.
