A new collaboration between eight European countries brings together organisations from Italy, Cyprus, Poland, Spain, Norway, Germany, Ireland and Portugal to implement the research project under the acronym "eNeuron" entitled "Sustainable energy hubs for energy communities".
The Computation-based Science and Technology Research Center (CaSToRC) of The Cyprus Institute has become part of the recently funded European Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Exascale Computing “Research on AI- and Simulation-Based Engineering at Exascale” (RAISE), funded under the H2020-INFRAEDI-2018-2020 call. The CoE will advance the use of high-performance computing (HPC) capabilities for the upcoming exascale computers in engineering applications.
COST MEDCYCLONES’s aim is to establish a European network for the study of Mediterranean cyclones. The need for this action stems from the fact that there are still significant gaps in understanding how cyclones can modulate the Mediterranean region in view of a changing climate.
The Open University of Cyprus (OUC) participates in a new research project entitled “INSTANT: Intelligent platform for providing Staffing and Training in the Hotel Industry”. The INSTANT project secured funding of approximately €800.000 in the framework of the “RESTART 2016-2020 Programme”, financed by the Cypriot Research Promotion Foundation, and has a duration of three years (2020-2023).
Aiming to upgrade national capacities in cybersecurity and to protect information and relevant systems of critical infrastructures, the Open University of Cyprus in collaboration with the Digital Security Authority of the Republic of Cyprus, are implementing a new research project titled “Cyber Sensors for Critical Infrastructure Protection and Large Scale Cyber Range Training Environment - CY SENTINEL”. More specifically, the project is implemented by the Cybersecurity and Telecommunications Research Lab of the Open University of Cyprus, led by Professor Stavros Stavrou.
