Cyprus University of Technology (CUT): Educational Laboratory within the framework of the project PERIsCOPE - UP is hosted by CUT

The research project Urban PERIsCOPE - UP is part of the INTEGRATED Research Invitation and is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund and the Republic of Cyprus through the Cyprus Research and Innovation Foundation.

Educational Workshop 1 Wednesday, April 6, 2022 15:30 PM - 18:30 PM.

In an era of rapid technological developments, it is imperative to develop tools for the protection and promotion of our cultural heritage. At the same time, the principles of sustainability emphasise the importance of using buildings of cultural value as part of our society s building stock. The research project "Portal for heritage buildings integration into the contemporary built environment" (Urban PERIsCOPE - UP) aims to design and develop an innovative platform for identifying , classification, documentation and renovation of heritage buildings.

The UP project will utilise state-of-the-art techniques in the scientific fields of Building Information Modelling (BIM), remote sensing, terrestrial and aerial 3D modelling techniques, and non-destructive on-site testing. The UP platform will be addressed to stakeholders who culturally and economically influence the society of Cyprus, including public authorities and policy makers (Department of Town Planning and Housing, Department of Antiquities, Municipalities) as well as professionals in the field (archaeologists, engineers, architects).

The Urban PERIsCOPE project is coordinated by the Cyprus Institute (CyI) with collaborating bodies the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT), the Frederick Research Centre, the Department of Urban Planning and Housing, the Municipality of Strovolos, the Municipality of Limassol, the companies Innov NetH, Consultants HIT Hyperte RTD Talos, as well as two research organisations from Italy, the Fondazione Bruno Kessler and the University of Catania.

As part of the above project, the members of the consortium organise a series of training workshops on the presentation of the platform and news of the project. The first workshop is hosted by the Cyprus University of Technology and will be held online on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 from 15.30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.

Τεχνολογικό Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου: Εκπαιδευτικό Εργαστήριο sτα πλαίσια του έργου PERIsCOPE - UP φιλοξενείται από το Τεχνολογικό Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου

Το ερευνητικό έργο Urban PERIsCOPE - UP εντάσσεται στην Ερευνητική Πρόσκληση INTEGRATED και συγχρηματοδοτείται από το Ευρωπαϊκό Ταμείο Περιφερειακής Ανάπτυξης και την Κυπριακή Δημοκρατία μέσω του Ιδρύματος Έρευνας και Καινοτομίας.

Σε μια εποχή ραγδαίων τεχνολογικών εξελίξεων, επιβάλλεται η ανάπτυξη εργαλείων για την προστασία και την προώθηση της πολιτιστικής μας κληρονομιάς. Ταυτόχρονα, οι αρχές αειφορίας υπογραμμίζουν τη σημασία της χρήσης κτιρίων πολιτιστικής αξίας ως μέρος του οικοδομικού αποθέματος της κοινωνίας μας. Το ερευνητικό έργο «Πύλη για την ενσωμάτωση κτιρίων πολιτιστικής κληρονομιάς στο σύγχρονο δομημένο περιβάλλον» (Urban PERIsCOPE - UP) στοχεύει στο σχεδιασμό και την ανάπτυξη μιας καινοτόμου πλατφόρμας για την καταγραφή των χαρακτηριστικών παραδοσιακών κτιρίων.

Το έργο UP θα αξιοποιήσει σύγχρονες τεχνικές στους επιστημονικούς τομείς της Μοντελοποίησης Πληροφοριών Κτιρίων (BIM), της τηλεπισκόπησης, των επίγειων και εναέριων τεχνικών τρισδιάστατης μοντελοποίησης και των μη καταστρεπτικών επιτόπιων δοκιμών. Η πλατφόρμα UP θα απευθύνεται σε ενδιαφερόμενους φορείς που επηρεάζουν πολιτισμικά και οικονομικά την κοινωνία της Κύπρου, συμπεριλαμβανομένων των δημόσιων αρχών και των υπευθύνων για τη χάραξη πολιτικής (Τμήμα Πολεοδομίας και Οικήσεως, Τμήμα Αρχαιοτήτων, Δήμοι) αλλά και επαγγελματιών του τομέα (αρχαιολόγοι, μηχανικοί, αρχιτέκτονες).

Το έργο Urban PERIsCOPE συντονίζει το Ινστιτούτο Κύπρου (ΙΚυ) με συνεργαζόμενους φορείς το Τεχνολογικό Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου (ΤΕΠΑΚ), το Ερευνητικό Κέντρο Frederick, το Τμήμα Πολεοδομίας και Οικήσεως, το Δήμο Στροβόλου, το Δήμο Λεμεσού, τις εταιρείες HIT Hypertech Innovations, NetU Consultants και RTD Talos, καθώς και δύο ερευνητικούς φορείς από την Ιταλία το Fondazione Bruno Kessler και το Πανεπιστήμιο της Κατάνιας.

Στα πλαίσια του πιο πάνω έργου τα μέλη της κοινοπραξία διοργανώνουν μια σειρά από εκπαιδευτικά εργαστήρια με θέμα την παρουσίαση της πλατφόρμας και νέων του έργου. Το πρώτο εργαστήριο φιλοξενείται από το Τεχνολογικό Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου και θα διεξαχθεί διαδικτυακά την Τετάρτη 6 Απριλίου 2022 από τις 15.30 μ.μ. έως 18.30 μ.μ.
