Cyprus University of Technology (CUT): CUT academics and researcher to speak at Financial Wellbeing Institute (FWI) event

Two academics and a researcher from Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) will be the keynote speakers at the online panel discussion organised by the Financial Wellbeing Institute (FWI), in collaboration with the Department of Secondary General Education and Secondary Technical and Vocational Education. Pedagogical Institute, on "Financial Literacy in Cyprus: The Problem, the Consequences and its Address''.

He is the Associate Professor of the Department of Commerce, Finance and Shipping of CUT and President of FWI, Dr. Panagiotis Ch. Andreou, the Assistant Professor in the same Department and member of FWI, Dr. Dimitris Koursaros and the researcher of CUT and member of the Administrative Council of FWI, Dr. Andri Kyrizi.

The discussion will take place on Tuesday 22 March at 5.30 pm as part of Global Money Week (21-27 March 2022), the annual global awareness campaign on the importance of ensuring that young people, from an early age, are financially aware and acquire the knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviours required to make sound financial decisions and ultimately achieve financial prosperity.

The event will be addressed by the Minister of Finance, Mr. Konstantinos Petridis and the Director of Secondary General Education, Dr. Kyprianos Louis.

The discussion will be moderated by Ms. Nikol Kallasidou, Lawyer and Member of the Board of FWI.

The purpose of the discussion, according to the organisers, is to inform about the problem of financial literacy, the consequences for the financial well-being of individuals and how the enhancement and empowerment of citizens, especially young people, to acquire knowledge in financial literacy can to contribute to their financial resilience especially in the current circumstances.

The Financial Wellbeing Institute was founded in December 2020 and is the first non-profit association to promote financial literacy and the promotion of financial education in Cyprus.

Τεχνολογικό Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου (ΤΕΠΑΚ):  Ακαδημαϊκοί και ερευνήτρια του ΤΕΠΑΚ θα μιλήσουν σε εκδήλωση τού Financial Wellbeing Institute (FWI)

Δύο ακαδημαϊκοί και μια ερευνήτρια του Τεχνολογικού Πανεπιστημίου Κύπρου (ΤΕΠΑΚ) θα είναι οι κύριοι ομιλητές της διαδικτυακής συζήτησης-πάνελ που διοργανώνουν το Financial Wellbeing Institute (FWI), σε συνεργασία με τις Διευθύνσεις Μέσης Γενικής Εκπαίδευσης και Μέσης Τεχνικής και Επαγγελματικής Εκπαίδευσης και Κατάρτισης και το Παιδαγωγικό Ινστιτούτο, με θέμα «Ο Χρηματοοικονομικός Αλφαβητισμός στην Κύπρο: Το Πρόβλημα, οι Συνέπειες και η Αντιμετώπισή του».

Πρόκειται για τον Αναπληρωτή Καθηγητή του Τμήματος Εμπορίου, Χρηματοοικονομικών και Ναυτιλίας του ΤΕΠΑΚ και Πρόεδρο του FWI, Δρ Παναγιώτη Χ. Ανδρέου, τον Επίκουρο Καθηγητή στο ίδιο Τμήμα και μέλος του FWI, Δρ Δημήτρη Κουρσάρο και την ερευνήτρια του ΤΕΠΑΚ και μέλος του Δ.Σ. του FWI, Δρ Άντρη Κυριζή

Η συζήτηση θα διεξαχθεί την Τρίτη 22 Μαρτίου, ώρα 5.30 μμ στο πλαίσιο του Global Money Week (21-27 Μαρτίου 2022), της ετήσιας παγκόσμιας εκστρατείας ευαισθητοποίησης σχετικά με τη σημασία της διασφάλισης πως οι νέοι, από μικρή ηλικία, γνωρίζουν οικονομικά και αποκτούν τις γνώσεις, τις δεξιότητες, τις στάσεις και τις συμπεριφορές που απαιτούνται για τη λήψη ορθών οικονομικών αποφάσεων και τελικά την επίτευξη οικονομικής ευημερίας.

Χαιρετισμό στην εκδήλωση θα απευθύνουν ο Υπουργός Οικονομικών, κ. Κωνσταντίνος Πετρίδης και ο Διευθυντής Μέσης Γενικής Εκπαίδευσης,  Δρ Κυπριανός Λούης.

Τη συζήτηση θα συντονίσει η κ. Νικόλ Καλλασίδου, Νομικός και μέλος ΔΣ του FWI.

Σκοπός της συζήτησης, σύμφωνα με τους διοργανωτές, είναι η ενημέρωση σχετικά με το πρόβλημα του χρηματοοικονομικού αλφαβητισμού, τις συνέπειες για την οικονομική ευημερία των ατόμων και πώς η ενίσχυση και ενδυνάμωση των πολιτών και κυρίως των νέων, για την απόκτηση γνώσεων σε θέματα χρηματοοικονομικού αλφαβητισμού μπορεί να συμβάλει στην οικονομική ανθεκτικότητά τους ιδιαιτέρα υπό τις τρέχουσες συγκυρίες.

Το Financial Wellbeing Institute ιδρύθηκε τον Δεκέμβριο του 2020 και αποτελεί το πρώτο μη-κερδοσκοπικού χαρακτήρα σωματείο για την ενίσχυση του χρηματοοικονομικού αλφαβητισμού και την προώθηση της χρηματοοικονομικής παιδείας στην Κύπρο.
