The ERC has announced its Work Programme for 2023 with a total budget of around €2.2 billion for grants. This amount will support more than a thousand top researchers across Europe. Established by the ERC Scientific Council, the Work Programme for the coming year has been adopted by the European Commission.
A total budget of €33.5 million is available for creating more connected, inclusive and efficient innovation ecosystems that support the scaling of companies and spur innovation.
Hugo Duminil-Copin, from the University of Geneva and James Maynard from the University of Oxford, both grantees of the European Research Council, have won 2022 Fields Medals, one of the most prestigious prizes in mathematics. This year’s prize was also awarded to Maryna Viazovska from EPFL who has recently served as a panel member evaluating proposals from researchers seeking to win ERC grants, and to June Huh from Princeton University.
