Put people at the heart of energy transition policies, EU Chief Scientific Advisors recommend

On 29 June, the European Commission’s Group of Chief Scientific Advisors (GCSA) delivered a Scientific Opinion on a systemic approach to the energy transition in Europe. In their opinion, the Advisors provide policy recommendations on how the Commission can contribute, accelerate, and facilitate the clean energy transition at the European and global level. One of their key recommendations is that a sustainable and fair transition to a climate-neutral energy system requires not only innovative technologies, but also a people-centric approach that actively involves all participants in the energy environment.

NextGenerationEU: European Commission completes second successful bond issuance to support Europe's recovery

The European Commission has in its second NextGenerationEU transaction, raised €15 billion to finance Europe's recovery from the coronavirus crisis and its consequences. This was a dual-tranche transaction, consisting of a €9 billion 5-year bond due on 6 July 2026 and a €6 billion 30-year bond due on 6 July 2051
