The Commission launched the second Women TechEU call, following the successful pilot. This year, up to 130 deep-tech start-ups led by women will qualify for funding and business acceleration services to grow into tomorrow’s female tech leaders.
CINEA has signed grant agreements worth EUR 437 million under Horizon Europe Transport with 79 projects selected for funding with topics relating to Cross-sectoral solutions for the climate transition(HORIZON-CL5-2021-D2-01), Clean and competitive solutions for all transport modes (HORIZON-CL5-2021-D5-01), and Safe, Resilient Transport and Smart Mobility services for passengers and goods (HORIZON-CL5-2021-D6-01).
The Commission has adopted the amendment of the Euratom Research and Training Work Programme 2021–2022. It now includes two new actions in support of Ukraine-based researchers and researchers displaced by the war. First of all, additional funding of €2.5 million will be available for the EUROfusion consortium to provide specific support to Ukraine’s fusion scientists and engineers, as well as to purchase equipment and hardware. Secondly, a new Innovation Action (IA), worth €10 million in EU contribution, will be launched to improve the security of the supply of nuclear fuel supply for 35 Russian-designed water-water energetic reactors, so-called VVER, currently operating in both the EU and Ukraine.
The European Commission approved the payment of 20 grants to companies selected for blended finance under the EIC Accelerator in June 2021, with a further 7 to follow before the end of the month. Together with the announcement of the first direct equity investment in French company SiPearl on 14 June 2022, it marks an important step towards normalisation of the EIC Accelerator implementation, after delays due to restructuring of the EIC Fund. Applications for the EIC Accelerator in the June 2022 cut-off remain strong, signaling a continued interest and relevance of the instrument.
