MSCA will support the application of some fellows to attend this August’s Lindau Meeting for economists - applications are now open.
The southern German town of Lindau on the shores of Lake Constance has been the location for the annual Lindau Meetings since the 1950s.
The annual scientific conferences bring together Nobel Laureates and young researchers to foster scientific exchange between the generations.
This year, the Meeting of the Laureates of the Sveriges RiksbankPrize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel in Lindau will be held from 23 - 27 August 2022.
The audience for lectures, panel discussions, and special discussion sessions will consist of up to 500 economists.
Most will be advanced graduate students and post docs, but also some young assistant professors will attend.
As in previous years, the European Commission is offering a limited number of Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions’ (MSCA) fellows the opportunity to participate to the Seventh Lindau Meeting in Economic Sciences.
People who wish to apply to attend through MSCA should carefully consider the selection criteria below and follow the application steps.
The call for applications is open to both current (you should have commenced your fellowship by 1 December 2021) and past MSCA fellows.
The review panel of the Council for the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings will select the participants among the candidates using the following criteria
Advanced graduate students should have an excellent academic record. They should have written one or several discussion papers on original research and have at least some experience in presenting their research at workshops and conferences
Post-docs or early tenure-track scientists should be less than 5 years away from their Ph.D. They should have published outstanding papers in widely recognised academic journals. They should also have presented their research at international conferences.
It is important that applicants ensure that they have the funding necessary to meet their own share of the costs of the event. This will be EUR 1 250, plus travel costs to and from the meeting.
Related costs must be paid by your organisation and/or through your MSCA project.
It is recommended that you get a confirmation from your organisation that these costs will be met at the appropriate time (April 2022).
In cases where fellows have already finished their projects, they must ensure they have the necessary funding to participate.
Please note that the MSCA are not offering travel or fee support for the event, merely the opportunity to attend.
When applying, it should be an important consideration that, if someone who has been selected to attend is not able to meet the costs, this place will be lost and no other MSCA fellow will be able to benefit from the opportunity.
The application process to seek a nomination from MSCA to attend the Lindau meeting is a two-step procedure.
For the first stage, you will need to submit four documents.
In the second stage, the Lindau Selection Committee will ask candidates who are supported by the European Commission to complete their profiles by 28 February 2022.
The Lindau Committee will take final selection decisions in April 2022, allowing sufficient time for travel arrangements to be made.

Send all parts of your application to the European Commission by Thursday 20 January 2022 17:00 CET (17:00 Brussels local time) to [email protected]
The European Commission will make recommendations to the Lindau Selection Committee in the last week of January.
