Open University of Cyprus: OUC coordinates the new research project "Tackling the challenges of the EU Education Area by building resilient, inclusive and forward-looking training to upskill HED students to face the transformations in digital culture

The Open University of Cyprus (OUC) has secured new research funding and for the next two years (12 / 2021-12 / 2023) will coordinate the implementation of the research project entitled "Tackling the challenges of the European Education Area by building resilient, inclusive and forward-looking training to upskill HED students face the transformations in digital culture with new e-skills, intercultural and entrepreneurial competences »(acronym: Pact4Skills).

The project is funded with a budget of around € 323,000 from the Erasmus + Program (action: Strategic Partnerships) and supports, inter alia, the European Commission's Digital Education Action Plan 2021-2027 as it focuses on the interconnection of higher education and non-higher education. formal training with the demands of the labor market for an even more competitive cultural sector.

In particular, the Pact4Skills project has a dual purpose. On the one hand, exploring the needs for basic transversal skills (eg digital literacy, critical thinking and competence) and for entrepreneurship and innovation skills in the field of cultural heritage, so that cultural institutions are able to respond to new data in the field. On the other hand, it aims to educate higher education students (through curricula and / or non-formal learning programs) in the production of digital culture that can be a bridge between digital industries and cultural institutions. By exploring the emerging needs of cultural organizations and linking them to the education sector, Pact4Skills seeks to help modernize the labor market in the fields of culture and the creative industries.

The project consortium consists of the following partners, in addition to OUC who coordinates with a research team of the Postgraduate program "Cultural Policy and Development" (Associate Professor George Papaioannou, Academic Officer, Dr. Dorothea Papathanassiou - Tsourt): Cergy Paris Universite (France), Telavi State University (Georgia), Stichting for Education on Agility Liberating Structures (Netherlands), Comunità Montana Alto Basento (Italy) and Artifactory (Greece).
