Launch of new European online self-assessment tool for digital skills

On 10 December, the Commission has launched a new self-assessment tool that allows citizens to test their digital skills and access training opportunities appropriate for their needs.

The tool is available on the EU’s Digital Skills and Jobs Platform and Europass in all 24 EU official languages, as well as in Turkish, Serbian, Macedonian, Norwegian and Icelandic.

Based on the Digital Competence Framework, this free test covers information and data literacy, communication and collaboration, digital content creation, safety, and problem solving. Following the test, the respondent will receive an assessment of their skill level that helps them identify how to improve and where to find the most appropriate training.

For many years, the Commission has been promoting projects and strategies to improve the level of digital skills across Europe. The European Digital Skills and Jobs Platform, supported by the Connecting Europe Facility Programme, offers information and resources on digital skills, as well as training and funding opportunities. Also, the launch of the new online self-assessment tool for digital skills follows the Pact for Skills, which invites public and private organisations to join forces and take concrete action to upskill and reskill people in Europe. The tool will also support the second priority set in the Digital Education Action Plan 2021-2027, namely to enhance digital skills and competences for the digital transformation.  Furthermore, under the proposed digital compass in Europe's Digital Decade, the Commission has set the objective that by 2030, at least 80% of all adults should have basic digital skills, and there should be 20 million employed ICT specialists in the EU, with convergence between women and men.
