Corporate Innovation Event to Bridge the Theory, Practice and Policy Gap

The Department of Hotel Management and Tourism of the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) organise the first Corporate Innovation symposium in Cyprus on Friday, November 19, 2021.
The symposium is addressed to managers of small and large companies, professionals, aspiring entrepreneurs, academics and students and aims to highlight the needs, actions and perspectives that are formed around corporate innovation in Cyprus.
The symposium aims to bridge the gap between theory, practice and policies around corporate innovation. Among the speakers, Dr. Nikolas Mastrogiannopoulos, Chief Research and Innovation Scientist of the Republic of Cyprus and the renowned Professor of Business Strategy at the University of Birmingham, Dr. Shlomo Tarba. The lectures are divided into three thematic sections: a) Theory: research and theoretical trends around corporate innovation, b) Practice: practical perception and approach of innovation actions within new and existing companies, and c) Politics: policies to encourage and shape corporate innovation.
Dr. Elias Hatzielias, Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship at CUT and co-organizer of the symposium said that "the symposium is a first class opportunity to synthesize theoretical and practical knowledge in order to perceive and record practices and approaches that strengthen the domestic ecosystem new."
Dr. Michalis Christofi, Lecturer in Entrepreneurship and Innovation at CUT and co-organizer, added that "a common framework between theory, practice and policy around corporate innovation is a necessary element of our country's economic development and is something that will highlight this banquet ".
The event will start at 17:00 with the presentations and at 19:30 there will be an interesting discussion with speakers and the public, which will be moderated by the well-known start-up journalist and founder of Startups364 Panis Pieri. During the discussion, participants will have the opportunity to interact with the speakers through questions.
Invited to the discussion are the Director of the Innovation & Entrepreneurship Center of the Bank of Cyprus, Mr. Angela Panagiotou, the Director of Cyprus Seeds, Maria Markidou-Georgiadou, the Founder and Director of the start-up BookYourWeddingDay.com, Maria Euripides and the Assistant Professor of CUT, Dr. Elias Hatzielias.
The event is open to the public, will be held in English and will be followed by a reception.
According to the health protocol of CUT, entry to the event will be allowed only to people with a certificate of vaccination or disease with Covid-19. Due to limited places, registration is required.

Εκδήλωση για την εταιρική καινοτομία με στόχο να γεφυρώσει το χάσμα θεωρίας, πράξης και πολιτικών.

Το Τμήμα Διοίκησης Ξενοδοχείων και Τουρισμού του Τεχνολογικού Πανεπιστημίου Κύπρου (ΤΕΠΑΚ) διοργανώνει το πρώτο συμπόσιο Εταιρικής Καινοτομίας στην Κύπρο την Παρασκευή 19 Νοεμβρίου 2021.
Το συμπόσιο απευθύνεται σε διευθυντές μικρών και μεγάλων επιχειρήσεων, επαγγελματίες, επίδοξους επιχειρηματίες, ακαδημαϊκούς και φοιτητές και έχει ως στόχο να αναδείξει τις ανάγκες, δράσεις και προοπτικές που διαμορφώνονται γύρω από την εταιρική καινοτομία στην Κύπρο.
Το συμπόσιο φιλοδοξεί να γεφυρώσει το χάσμα μεταξύ θεωρίας, πράξης και πολιτικών γύρω από την εταιρική καινοτομία. Μεταξύ των ομιλητών ξεχωρίζουν ο Δρ. Νικόλας Μαστρογιαννόπουλος, Επικεφαλής Επιστήμονας Έρευνας και Καινοτομίας της Κυπριακής Δημοκρατίας και ο καταξιωμένος καθηγητής Στρατηγικής Επιχειρήσεων του Πανεπιστημίου του Μπέρμιγχαμ, Δρ. Shlomo Tarba. Οι ομιλίες χωρίζονται σε τρεις θεματικές ενότητες: α) Θεωρία: έρευνα και θεωρητικές τάσεις γύρω από την εταιρική καινοτομία, β) Πράξη: πρακτική αντίληψη και προσέγγιση δράσεων καινοτομίας εντός νέων και υφιστάμενων επιχειρήσεων, και γ) Πολιτική: πολιτικές ενθάρρυνσης και διαμόρφωσης εταιρικής καινοτομίας.
Ο Δρ. Ηλίας Χατζηηλίας, Επίκουρος Καθηγητής επιχειρηματικότητας στο ΤΕΠΑΚ και συνδιοργανωτής του συμποσίου ανέφερε ότι «το συμπόσιο είναι μιας πρώτης τάξεως ευκαιρία να συνθέσουμε θεωρητική και πρακτική γνώση προκειμένου να αντιληφθούμε και να καταγράψουμε πρακτικές και προσεγγίσεις που να ενισχύουν το εγχώριο οικοσύστημα καινοτομίας».
O Δρ. Μιχάλης Χριστοφή, Λέκτορας επιχειρηματικότητας και καινοτομίας στο ΤΕΠΑΚ και συνδιοργανωτής, πρόσθεσε με τη σειρά του ότι «ένα κοινό πλαίσιο μεταξύ θεωρίας, πράξης και πολιτικής γύρω από την εταιρική καινοτομία είναι αναγκαίο στοιχείο της οικονομικής ανάπτυξης της χώρας μας και είναι κάτι το οποίο θα αναδείξει το συμπόσιο αυτό».
Η εκδήλωση θα ξεκινήσει στις 17:00 με τις παρουσιάσεις και στις 19:30 θα υπάρξει μια ενδιαφέρουσα συζήτηση με ομιλητές και το κοινό, την οποία θα συντονίζει ο γνωστός δημοσιογράφος νεοφυών επιχειρήσεων (start-ups) και ιδρυτής του Startups364 Panis Pieri. Κατά τη διάρκεια της συζήτησης, οι συμμετέχοντες θα έχουν την ευκαιρία να αλληλεπιδράσουν με τους ομιλητές μέσω ερωτήσεων.
Καλεσμένοι στην συζήτηση είναι η διευθύντρια του Innovation & Entrepreneurship Center της Τράπεζας Κύπρου, κ. Αγγέλα Παναγιώτου, η διευθύντρια του Cyprus Seeds, Μαρία Μαρκίδου-Γεωργιάδου, η ιδρύτρια και Διευθύντρια του start-up BookYourWeddingDay.com, Μαρία Ευριπίδη και ο Επίκουρος Καθηγητής του TEPAK, Δρ. Ηλίας Χατζηηλίας.
Η εκδήλωση είναι ανοιχτή για το κοινό, θα διεξαχθεί στα Αγγλικά και θα ακολουθήσει δεξίωση.
Βάσει του υγειονομικού πρωτοκόλλου του ΤΕΠΑΚ, είσοδος στην εκδήλωση θα επιτρέπεται μόνο σε άτομα με πιστοποιητικό εμβολιασμού ή νόσησης με Covid-19. Λόγω περιορισμένων θέσεων, απαιτείται εγγραφή.
