Frederick University: Presentation of results of the NatCySoap research project

The Frederick Research Center (FRC) presented the research project “Chemical characterization and evaluation of antioxidant and antimicrobial activity of saponins isolated from Saponaria Cypria” on Wednesday, October 20, 2021, during an online presentation.

About the project:

From the roots of a small endemic plant of Cyprus, Saponaria Cypria, natural saponins are extracted, which are an excellent soap with neutral pH, which deeply cleanses the skin without harmful or chemical ingredients, leaving the skin smooth and soft.

The pharmaceutical properties of the product are being investigated by researchers at the Frederick Research Center and academics in the Department of Pharmacy at Frederick University, in collaboration with Cyherbia Botanical Park Ltd. The participation of the General Chemistry of the State in the quantitative and qualitative characterization of the extracts is particularly important. The results of the experiments will be used to produce an innovative natural product from the company Cyherbia Botanical Park, of NatCy Soap.

The project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund and the Republic of Cyprus through the Research and Innovation Foundation, under the RESTART 2016-2020 programmes.

Frederick University: Παρουσίαση αποτελεσμάτων του ερευνητικού έργου NatCySoap.

Το Frederick Research Center (FRC) παρουσίασε τα ερευνητικά αποτελέσματα του έργου “Chemical characterization and evaluation of antioxidant and antimicrobial activity of saponins isolated from Saponaria Cypria” την Τετάρτη, 20 Οκτωβρίου 2021, κατά τη διάρκεια διαδικτυακής παρουσίασης.

Σχετικά με το έργο:

Από τις ρίζες ενός μικρού ενδημικού φυτού της Κύπρου, του Saponaria Cypria, εκχυλίζονται φυσικoί σαπωνίνες, οι οποίοι αποτελούν ένα άριστο σαπούνι με ουδέτερο pH, που καθαρίζει βαθιά το δέρμα χωρίς βλαβερά ή χημικά συστατικά, αφήνοντας το δέρμα λείο και μαλακό.

Η διερεύνηση των φαρμακευτικών ιδιοτήτων του προϊόντος γίνεται από ερευνητές του Frederick Research Center και ακαδημαϊκούς του Τμήματος Φαρμακευτικής του Πανεπιστημίου Frederick, σε συνεργασία με την εταιρία Cyherbia Botanical Park Ltd. Ιδιαίτερα σημαντική είναι η συμμετοχή και του Γενικού Χημείου του Κράτους στον ποσοτικό και ποιοτικό χαρακτηρισμό των εκχυλισμάτων. Tα αποτελέσματα των πειραμάτων θα χρησιμοποιηθούν για την παραγωγή ενός καινοτόμου φυσικού προϊόντος από την εταιρία Cyherbia Botanical Park, του NatCy Soap.

Το Έργο συγχρηματοδοτείται από το Ευρωπαϊκό Ταμείο Περιφερειακής Ανάπτυξης και την Κυπριακή Δημοκρατία μέσω του Ιδρύματος Έρευνας και Καινοτομίας στο πλαίσιο των προγραμμάτων RESTART 2016-2020.
