Like EU citizens, citizens of Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway can now register a .eu domain name no matter where they live in the world
EEA countries ratified the incorporation of the updated .eu Regulation (2019/517) in the EEA agreement on 9 July 2021. This allows citizens of Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway to register a .eu top-level domain no matter where they reside in the world. EU citizens were granted the same extended eligibility in October 2019.
The .eu space currently ranks as the seventh largest country code extension on the internet. The extension of the right to register .eu domains will facilitate access to the EU single market for people around the world. It will allow citizens to display their European identity online regardless of where they live.
