University of Cyprus also a “Hub” for the President of the Eurogroup - Mr. Paschal Donohoe was impressed by the infrastructure that accommodates thousands of young people in Cyprus every day.

The President of the Eurogroup, Mr. Paschal Donohoe, visited the University of Cyprus on Thursday, July 22th, 2021. The Rector of the University of Cyprus, Professor Tasos Christofides, welcomed the President of the Eurogroup and the Ambassador of Ireland to Cyprus and their delegations to the University Campus together with the Minister of Finance, Mr. Konstantinos Petridis academics, students, were guided to its facilities.

Mr. Paschal Donohoe noted that he was impressed with the infrastructure of the University of Cyprus that houses thousands of young people in Cyprus every day.

The Rector informed the President of the Eurogroup about the mission of the University of Cyprus and about the research, educational and other accomplishment  of the University  staff and its students. During his stay in Cyprus, Mr. Paschal Donohoe participated in a business forum, in the presence of representatives of the business and academic community, which was coordinated by the Dean of the School of Economics and Management, Professor Andreas Haritou.

The visit of the Irish Minister for Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, who was elected President of the Eurogroup on 9th of July 2020, is  in the framework of a series of visits to various European countries, while as the close coordination of the economic policies of  the Member States within the  European Union among other, favors the conditions for stronger economic growth.

Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου: «Σταθμός» το Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου και για τον Πρόεδρο του Eurogroup

To Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου επισκέφθηκε, την Πέμπτη, 22 Ιουλίου 2021, ο Πρόεδρος του Eurogroup, κ. Paschal Donohoe. Ο Πρύτανης του Πανεπιστημίου Κύπρου, Καθηγητής Τάσος Χριστοφίδης, καλωσόρισε τον Πρόεδρο του Eurogroup και την Πρέσβειρα της Ιρλανδίας στην Κύπρο, αλλά και την αντιπροσωπεία που τους συνόδευε στην Πανεπιστημιούπολη και μαζί με τον Υπουργό Οικονομικών, κ. Κωνσταντίνο Πετρίδη, ακαδημαϊκούς, φοιτητές και φοιτήτριες, ξεναγήθηκαν στις εγκαταστάσεις του.

Ο κ. Paschal Donohoe δήλωσε εντυπωσιασμένος με τις υποδομές που στεγάζουν καθημερινά χιλιάδες νέους και νέες της Κύπρου.

Ο Πρύτανης ενημέρωσε τον Πρόεδρο του Eurogroup για την αποστολή του Πανεπιστημίου Κύπρου και για τα ερευνητικά, διδακτικά και άλλα επιτεύγματα του προσωπικού και των φοιτητών/τριών. Κατά την παραμονή του στην Κύπρο, ο κ. Paschal Donohoe, συμμετείχε σε επιχειρηματικό φόρουμ, στην παρουσία εκπροσώπων της επιχειρηματικής και ακαδημαϊκής κοινότητας, το οποίο συντόνισε ο Κοσμήτορας της Σχολής Οικονομικών Επιστημών και Διοίκησης, Καθηγητής Ανδρέας Χαρίτου.

Η επίσκεψη του Ιρλανδού Υπουργού Οικονομικών, Δημοσίων Δαπανών και Μεταρρύθμισης, ο οποίος εξελέγη πρόεδρος του Γιούρογκρουπ στις 9 Ιουλίου 2020, εντάσσεται στο πλαίσιο αντίστοιχων επισκέψεων που πραγματοποιεί σε διάφορες ευρωπαϊκές χώρες, καθώς ο στενός συντονισμός των οικονομικών πολιτικών μεταξύ των κρατών μελών της ευρωζώνης, μεταξύ άλλων, ευνοεί και τις συνθήκες για μια ισχυρότερη οικονομική ανάπτυξη.
