Capturing the beauty of science through art: discover the “Dreaming Green” art-science competition winners

Over 700 secondary students participated in the EU Green Week partner event competition organised by the REA, in collaboration with the European Schools.

During last week’s "Dreaming Green" art-science competition award ceremony, organised by the European Research Executive Agency (REA) in partnership with the European School of Brussels IV, six talented winners were honoured.

The initiative was part of the EU Green Week partner events, aiming to attract the interest of young people to the interplay between art and science. Over 700 secondary students took part from 16 European and European accredited schools located in seven different countries. The event related directly to the EU Green Week’s theme "Zero Pollution" that aimed at promoting citizen and youth engagement.

The catalogue of artistic creations demonstrates the students’ talent and mastery of a wide variety of media and materials. The secondary students’ diverse range of works were among others inspired by what a legendary scientist like Marie Sklodowska Curie and an extraordinary artist like Pablo Picasso had in common: creativity, innovation and a strong motivation to “dream big” in their fields of art and science to innovate.

There were many great moments and comments from the award givers, as well as the recipients, which are captured in this event summary. As she accepted her award, the junior competition winner’s words (Margarita Shishkova) echoed closely the art-science dreaming spirit of both Marie Sklowdowska-Curie and Pablo Picasso: “Remain inspired, dare to dream, art and science will help that sooner or later all our dreams come true!”
