SPIN - OFF COMPANY BY THE NATIONAL TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY OF ATHENS: LIGHTCOCE OPEN INNOVATION TEST BED

The National Technical University of Athens is the Coordinator of the European Project “Building an Ecosystem for the up-scaling of lightweight multi-functional concrete and ceramic materials and structures”.

The Scientific Supervisor and Associate Professor of NTUA Mrs.Maria Taxiarhou took the initiative to establish the/spin off company knowledge intensity with the name "LightCoce Open Innovation Test Bed" and the distinctive title LightCoce.

The objective of the Open Innovation Test Beds is to bring nanotechnologies and advanced materials within the reach of companies and users in order to advance from validation in a laboratory to prototypes in industrial environments.

Open Access in this context means that any interested user, from Europe and beyond, can access the test beds' facilities, capabilities and services independently of whether this user is part of an Open Innovation Test Beds Horizon 2020 consortium or not. Access should be granted at fair conditions and pricing and with transparent and mutual obligations with regards to, for instance, security, safety and intellectual property rights. Users can be individuals, teams and institutions from academia, research organisations, small and medium enterprises and industry, from the public as well as the private sectors.

Under the NTUA in Greece,  the Laboratory of Metallurgy, part of the School of Mining and Metallurgical Engineering will collaborate with The Laboratory of Reinforced Concrete (LRC) of the School of Civil Engineering and the RNanolab (http://nanolab.chemeng.ntua.gr/).

“LightCoce project aims in offering an open access Ecosystem for upscaling and testing multifunctional lightweight concrete and ceramic materials through 5 upgraded Pilot Lines (PLs) (targeting to Concrete, Conventional and Advanced Ceramics), as well as characterisation facilities, process modelling, quality assurance and monitoring, and standardisation, safety and innovation management services that will be accessible to the interested customers at fair conditions and cost”.

The ambition of the LightCoce is to be the initial nucleus for the participation of more similar European laboratories, strengthening the existing infrastructure and expanding the offered know-how.

ΤΕΧΝΟΒΛΑΣΤΟΣ ΤΟΥ ΕΘΝΙΚΟΥ ΜΕΤΣΟΒΕΙΟΥ ΠΟΛΥΤΕΧΝΕΙΟΥ: LIGHTCOCE OPEN INNOVATION TEST BED

Το Εθνικό Μετσόβιο Πολυτεχνείο με αφετηρία το Κοινοτικό έργο «Building an Ecosystem for the up-scaling of lightweight multi-functional concrete and ceramic materials and structures», του οποίου είναι συντονιστής, ανέλαβε την πρωτοβουλία ίδρυσης της εταιρείας έντασης γνώσης (τεχνοβλαστός/spin off) με την επωνυμία «LightCoce Open Innovation Test Bed» και το διακριτικό τίτλο LightCoce.

Επιστημονικά Υπεύθυνη του έργου είναι η Αναπληρώτρια Καθηγήτρια ΕΜΠ κ. Μαρία Ταξιάρχου.

Σκοπός του τεχνοβλαστού LightCoce είναι η δημιουργία ενός επιχειρηματικού οικοσυστήματος ανοιχτής πρόσβασης στην καινοτομία που θα προσφέρει εξειδικευμένες υπηρεσίες στον τομέα του σκυροδέματος και των κεραμικών υλικών για τον κλάδο των κατασκευών, την αυτοκινητοβιομηχανία και την αεροδιαστημική. Η εταιρεία θα παρέχει υπηρεσίες που καλύπτουν όλο το φάσμα των αναγκών της Ευρωπαϊκής βιομηχανίας στους κλάδους αυτούς και οι οποίες αφορούν την ανάπτυξη νέων προϊόντων και τεχνολογιών με στόχο να εξασφαλίσουν την επιτυχή είσοδό τους στην αγορά.

Οι παρεχόμενες υπηρεσίες περιλαμβάνουν την ανάπτυξη, αξιολόγηση,  προτυποποίηση, και μοντελοποίηση υλικών και τεχνολογιών, ανάλυση κύκλου ζωής, μελέτη διείσδυσης νέων προϊόντων  στην αγορά και σχέδιο βέλτιστης διαχείρισης της καινοτομίας. Στο οικοσύστημα που έχει δημιουργηθεί συμμετέχουν αναγνωρισμένα τεχνολογικά ιδρύματα, ερευνητικά ινστιτούτα και εταιρείες υψηλής τεχνολογίας από διάφορες Ευρωπαϊκές χώρες. Το όραμα της εταιρείας είναι να υποστηρίξει τις ανάγκες της βιομηχανίας και ιδιαίτερα των μικρομεσαίων επιχειρήσεων, οι οποίες δε διαθέτουν τους πόρους και τις αναγκαίες υποδομές για έρευνα, και να γίνει πανευρωπαϊκό σημείο αναφοράς παροχής υπηρεσιών και καινοτομίας στους παραπάνω βιομηχανικούς κλάδους.

Aπό το ΕΜΠ συμμετέχουν το Εργαστήριο Μεταλλουργίας της Σχολής Μηχανικών Μεταλλείων Μεταλλουργών, το Εργαστήριο Οπλισμένου Σκυροδέματος της Σχολής Πολιτικών Μηχανικών και το Εργαστήριο Προηγμένων Υλικών, Νανο-υλικών και Νανοτεχνολογίας της Σχολής Χημικών Μηχανικών.

Φιλοδοξία του τεχνοβλαστού LightCoce είναι να αποτελέσει τον αρχικό πυρήνα για τη συμμετοχή περισσότερων ομοειδών ευρωπαϊκών εργαστηρίων, ενισχύοντας την υπάρχουσα υποδομή και διευρύνοντας την προσφερόμενη τεχνογνωσία.
