FNP IS RECRUITING EXPERTS

The objective assumed by the Foundation for Polish Science (FNP) is to ensure a transparent system of recruiting candidates for experts, along with determining the recruitment procedure, for the purpose of assessing grant applications (including verification of any submitted objections) and implementing other activities resulting from the project grant agreements concluded under Measure 4.4 of the Smart Growth Operational Programme (e.g. mid-term review, applications for project modifications, final reports and other kinds of opinions).

FNP has been established in 1991 as a non-governmental, non-political and non-profit research funding institution which pursues the mission of supporting science and innovation. It continues to act as the largest source of science funding in Poland outside of the state budget. Since more than a decade now, FNP implements a variety of R&I funding instruments financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) under Cohesion Policy. These R&I instruments aim to support – on the basis of scientific excellence and as a bottom-up approach - individual researchers or research teams working in the most innovative areas of science and technology. In 2015, FNP initiated a flagship initiative – International Research Agendas Programme (IRAP), aimed at establishing a small number of specialized, leading research units in Poland. Most recently, it also offered a COVID-19 related call for proposal (link).

All grants, prizes and stipends funded by the FNP are awarded on the basis of a competition, using a peer-review as a method of choice for a transparent assessment of candidates achievements and their proposals. Scientific excellence is the most important criterion in awarding of support. Thus, FNP continuously invites renewed experts from scientific and business circles to apply as expert candidates for supporting the evaluation of grant proposals, project changes, mid-term reviews and so on – either as remote reviewers or members of panel meetings. The current call for FNP experts has a deadline of 30th June 2020. Detailed information on the rules of the call and cooperation with experts can be found in the HERE.
